Featured Research Project
A study we funded, in partnership with Movember, investigated whether transcriptome analysis tools, particularly the Decipher signature, could identify men with advanced prostate cancer most likely to benefit from docetaxel chemotherapy.
The study, led by Professor Gerhardt Attard from University College London, revealed the Decipher signature is prognostic and can identify men who are most likely to respond to docetaxel treatment. This research could help men who are unlikely to benefit avoid unnecessary chemotherapy and its associated side effects.

Researcher Mentoring Scheme - Register Now!
Mentees in our researcher mentoring scheme are already gaining so much from their mentoring partnerships.
Our mentees have shared insights on how mentoring is supporting their career development, helping them build networks and gain funding, encouraging a healthy work-life balance, and strengthening their sense of belonging within the prostate cancer research community.
Our next round of partnerships will be launching soon. If you’d like to join the scheme, as a mentee, a mentor, or both, sign up through the mentoring scheme web page:
Congratulations to Jason Webber
We’re delighted to congratulate Jason Webber from Swansea University on his recent promotion to Associate Professor. Since 2014, we've supported Jason’s exciting work on extracellular vesicles, first through a career development grant and more recently through our Research Innovation Awards.
We are always delighted to celebrate the achievements of our research community. If we've missed anything or you have an achievement of your own to share, please get in touch.
NIHR Research Support Service
We would like to signpost the NIHR Research Support Service (RSS), which provides expert advice to applied and public health researchers on the design and delivery of research and the development of funding applications.
Their Research Methods Academy has recently launched a seminar series, focused on best-practice research methodologies. Designed to support researchers at all career stages, the series will cover a range of complex but common research method designs.
