UK Prostate Cancer Clinical Research Strategy Group

In light of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) winding down, the NCRI Prostate Group has been re-established as the UK Prostate Cancer Clinical Research Strategy Group – the CRSG.

The aim of the group is to identify clinical research gaps of importance to men, help shape the national research landscape, and strengthen research applications by providing expert guidance and advice early in study design and development.

What will the CRSG do?

The CRSG will focus on:

Spotting what's missing:

The group will help identify important gaps in clinical prostate cancer research and shape the studies needed for men over the next five to ten years.

Offering early support:

The group will give expert advice and guidance to strengthen clinical research ideas and study designs at early stages of development.

Working openly and together:

The group aims to be transparent, supportive, and collaborative - helping everyone in the prostate cancer research community make their clinical studies as strong and impactful as possible, as quickly as possible.

Supporting new researchers:

The group will offer guidance and mentorship to early career researchers to help them develop their skills and build successful careers in prostate cancer research.

Staying focussed:

The group won't be responsible for managing trial delivery, reviewing policies, or tracking research portfolios. Its focus is on strategy, advice, and research development.

Governance and partnerships

The CRSG operates as part of the UK Clinical Cancer Research Collaboration (UK3CR), supporting coordination and collaboration across the UK cancer research landscape, with light‑touch oversight.

The group also works in line with an agreed Terms of Reference, setting out its role, responsibilities and ways of working.

The CRSG Early Career member Terms of Reference are tailored guidance for early career members, outlining their role in contributing to discussions, developing skills and engaging with the group in a supportive, developmental environment.
