UK Prostate Cancer Clinical Research Strategy Group

In light of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) winding down, the NCRI Prostate Group has been re-established as the UK Prostate Cancer Clinical Research Strategy Group – the CRSG.

The aim of the group is to identify research gaps of importance to men, to help shape the national research landscape, and strengthen research applications by providing expert guidance and advice early in study design and development.

What will the CRSG do?

What the CRSG will focus on:

Spotting what's missing:

The group will help identify important gaps in prostate cancer research and shape the studies needed for men over the next five to ten years.

Offering early support:

The group will give expert advice and guidance to strengthen research ideas and study designs at early stages of development.

Working openly and together:

The group aims to be transparent, supportive, and collaborative - helping everyone in the prostate cancer research community make their studies as strong and impactful as possible, as quickly as possible.

Supporting new researchers:

The group will offer guidance and mentorship to early career researchers to help them develop their skills and build successful careers in prostate cancer research.

Staying focussed:

The group won't be responsible for managing trial delivery, reviewing policies, or tracking research portfolios. Its focus is on strategy, advice, and research development.

Sounds great. How do I become a member?

Full members

We're looking for motivated academic researchers to join the UK Prostate Cancer Clinical Research Strategy Group in specific roles where their expertise can make a real difference.

We are particularly seeking expertise in pathology, primary care, research nursing, and radiology, and we warmly encourage applications from junior consultants who are ready to contribute to shaping the future of prostate cancer research.

Early career observers

We're also offering two early career researcher observer positions for trainees or fellows who are eager to develop a research active clinical career in prostate cancer. This is a unique opportunity to learn from experienced researchers, gain insight into national research strategy, and build connections across the prostate cancer research community.

How to apply

To apply for a full member role or an early career observer position, please complete the relevant application form below.

Deadline for applications: 4pm on Friday 16 January.

The group welcomes proposals for clinical trials, and will also consider translational or biomarker research with a clear clinical line of sight. Proposals focused solely on basic science are not within scope.

How to send your proposal

Simply download and complete our proposal ideas form and email it to [email protected] with the subject line 'CRSG proposal ideas form'.

Submitted proposals will be reviewed and discussed by the CRSG at their next meeting, where they'll offer valuable feedback to help strengthen and shape new research ideas.
