Organisation structure and supply chains

Prostate Cancer UK was established to raise money to meet our objects of supporting research into prostate cancer, raising awareness of prostate cancer, and providing support and information to men with prostate cancer and their families.

Prostate Cancer UK is a registered charity in England and Wales (number 1005541) and in Scotland (number SCO39332) and a company registered in England and Wales and limited by guarantee (number 02653887).

The charity operates a wholly owned subsidiary trading company, Prostate Cancer Trading Limited. The company's principal activity is to raise income through sales from our online shop, and to process licensing income derived from our partnerships. Prostate Cancer Trading Limited is registered in England (number 06157784).

We work with a range of suppliers, the majority of whom are based in the United Kingdom and subject to UK law. Some suppliers may provide goods for us to sell, for example through our online shop, or provide products and services for our fundraising events.

Our policies

Our financial procedures manual covers both Prostate Cancer UK and Prostate Cancer Trading Ltd. It sets out how we control risk, including through our procurement policy, which is informed by our overarching ethical policy and provides a purchasing framework and process to support staff in the selection of suppliers. In addition, we also follow a number of other policies (listed below) to protect the people we work with and those involved in our supply chains. The policies have been all been reviewed and updated within the financial year ending 31 March 2024.

  • Code of Conduct
  • Safeguarding
  • Whistleblowing
  • Equal opportunities
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion.

Our due diligence processes, risk assessment and management

When selecting suppliers, we ensure they do not include slavery and human trafficking within their business or their supply chains, in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We investigate the Modern Slavery Statements of all significant proposed suppliers as part of our contracting process.

All our partners must confirm that they comply with the relevant UK laws and regulations, as well as good practice, prior to entering into an agreement with the charity.

Our whistleblowing policy ensures that our staff are able to raise any concerns they may have with the way in which our charity operates without fear of victimisation, harassment or disciplinary proceedings.

Risk is reviewed by the Leadership Team on a quarterly basis and our Finance, Risk and Audit Committee provide oversight. The Board receives updates on risk twice a year.

Specific key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of steps taken to ensure we prevent modern slavery in our supply chains will be considered during the coming year.

Our performance

We have received no concerns or reports about modern slavery or human trafficking from our staff, the public, or law enforcement agencies in the year to 31 March 2024.
