22 Apr 2025Lee Westwood leads line-up of sporting stars backing The Big Golf Race
As an all-star cast of sporting heroes come on board for The Big Golf Race, there are even more reasons to hit the course for a good cause this summer and help us drive real change for men affected by prostate cancer.

British sporting legend Lee Westwood is calling on golfers across the UK to take on The Big Golf Race this summer – to help save men's lives.
The former World Number One – considered one of Britain’s most successful ever golfers – is leading the charge for 2025, with several other huge sporting names also coming on board to get behind the Race.
Westwood is backed by a stellar line-up of stars from the world of sport, including fellow golfers Matt Wallace, Charley Hull and Gemma Dryburgh.
England cricket hero and new white-ball captain Harry Brook is also batting for The Big Golf Race this year. And he’s standing shoulder to shoulder with Olympic swimming champion Duncan Scott, who won an incredible eight medals across the Tokyo and Paris games.
Rugby legends Dan Biggar and Kenny Logan are also joining the line-up of sporting superstars, alongside presenter Josh Denzel and world-renowned PGA Professional and golf coach Dan Grieve.
Lee Westwood joins the Big Golf Race
With 44 tournament wins worldwide, Lee Westwood is one of Britain’s most successful and respected golfers. He famously ended Tiger Woods’ 281-week run at the top of golf’s world rankings and remains a standout figure on the LIV Golf tour.
Now in his early 50s, Westwood is backing our campaign to make sure every man knows his risk and can take action early. And this summer, he’s urging golfers up and down the country to hit the course for a good cause.
“1 in 8 men will get diagnosed with prostate cancer, so I’m sure that most golf clubs in the UK will have been affected by the disease in some way,” said Lee.
“As a man in my early 50s, I know it’s important for me to be aware of my risk of prostate cancer and the steps I can take.
“The golf community has backed Prostate Cancer UK brilliantly. And I hope to see even more golfers out on the course this summer, continuing that support and raising money to help save lives.”

Saving lives with every swing: why the Big Golf Race matters to men
More than 12,000 men die from prostate cancer every year in the UK. It’s the most common cancer in men, yet there’s still no national screening programme – and many men are diagnosed too late for effective treatment.
That’s why early diagnosis is key. But to make it a reality, we urgently need more vital research.
Funds raised through The Big Golf Race will help to drive forward that research, supporting the development of new, more accurate tests for prostate cancer and spreading awareness – so more men can check their risk and catch the disease early enough for a cure.
