Our top tips to raising over £2,000
1: Get a plan in place early
Break your fundraising down into bite sized chunks by planning lots of different events and activities. Look at the calendar and arrange your activities around different occasions, such as birthdays, BBQs, bonfire night, Christmas or Valentines Day. You’ll be amazed at how quickly lots of smaller events soon add up.
2: Set up your online fundraising page
Make it as easy as possible for people to give you money by creating an online fundraising page. Use our guide to make the most of your page and to make sure it stands out from the crowd!
3: Tap into your local community and spread the word
Your local community is a hugely valuable resource when it comes to fundraising. From bag packing and bucket collections in supermarkets to a quiz night or raffle at your local pub or community group, the options are endless. Approach local businesses to donate raffle prizes and ask friends and family to help sell tickets will spread the word. Remember to thank those businesses for their generous support.
4: Get the message out
You’re doing a brilliant thing and now’s the time to shout about it! Start by telling everyone you know! Share your fundraising page on social media so all your mates know you are raising money. Local papers are always looking for a great story, so let them know what you’re up to.
5: Ask the boss!
Find out if your employer offers matched giving or would like to give a donation. You could also ask to organise some events in the office from a #Shirt2Work day to regular cake sales. Remember to add your donation page link to your email signature, see if you can publicise your story on your intranet or post something up on the office noticeboard to help generate sponsorship.
