Gills rally behind Prostate Cancer UK
In their FA Cup 3rd round fixture, a packed full house at the Priestfield Stadium rallied to support not only The Gills, but Prostate Cancer UK.
Gillingham dedicated the blockbuster tie, which was live on the BBC, as a matchday to support Prostate Cancer UK. The Gills squad wore charity warm up t-shirts, Neil Harris and Brendan Rodgers both proudly wore their man of men badge on the touchline during the game, and charity volunteers raised money from the fans and hospitality guests in advance of kick off.
Additional social media coverage promoted Prostate Cancer UK's link to the fixture - highlighting the importnance of raising awareness of prostate cancer in football and fans knowing their risk of the disease through the Prostate Cancer UK risk checker.
Over £3,000 was raised from the fixture - which will go towards our work to developing better diagnosis and treatment for men.
