What is this event about?
We focused on the ways Cancer Alliances and NHS Trusts are working to deliver the Primary Care Network (PCN) Directed Enhanced Specification (DES) for prostate cancer. This event provided a space for healthcare professionals in all 4 nations, to hear about projects that support delivery of the specification, how to deliver an early diagnosis mandate and a Q&A.
You can find practical guidance, as well as our downloadable toolkit and flowcharts on how to deliver the DES here.
Agenda
We were joined by the following speakers:
Lisa James
Senior Strategy Manager leading on Primary Care for the NHS England Cancer Programme. Lisa has been central to the development of the PCN DES requirements on early cancer diagnosis so is perfectly placed to lend her insight.
Tim Dudderidge
Consultant urological surgeon at the University Hospital Southampton. He has helped transform the service with innovations in the diagnostic pathway, developed new therapies, and is running a region wide prostate health information service with PSA blood test self-referral pilot.
Rachel Brown
Partner at Montpelier Health Centre in Bristol and cancer lead for Bristol Inner City PCN, Dr Brown has led on the delivery of a pilot programme since July 22 of a text-based stratified outreach encouraging men with known risk factors to complete the Prostate Cancer UK risk checker.
