The Big Golf Race winter shoot-out: Coming to you in 2025

With Rory and Tiger teeing off their inaugural indoor golf league, TGL, this January we thought it only fair to give Prostate Cancer UK’s golf supporters a “similar” experience with our own virtual winter tournament. It’s why we’re delighted to announce a partnership with pioneering golf software company Trackman, to provide golfers around the globe the chance to take part in an innovative indoor simulation challenge this winter. 

We’re calling it The Big Golf Race Winter Shoot-out; to get you swinging in the winter ahead of the 2025 golfing season. And this is how it works…

Beginning on Wednesday 1 January, 2025 and it’s a three round, 9-hole, stroke play tournament taking place on the front nine of some iconic Major golfing venues – St Andrews, Evian Resort and Bethpage Black, also the host of the 2025 Ryder Cup.

With great prizes to be won for the overall “Order of Merit”, nearest the pin prizes on the 8th hole par 3 of each course and monthly prizes too.

• Find a Trackman indoor simulator centre near you: https://www.trackman.com/locator (Important: select ‘Simulator centre’ only when searching)
• Book and pay for a time slot in a Trackman booth
• Download the Trackman app and visit the “Tournament” section to find The Big Golf Race Winter Shoot-out*

*You need to download the Trackman app on your phone and register before accessing Trackman software at indoor simulator centres. Once registered select “Tournaments”  on the app and enter to feature on The Big Golf Race Winter Shoot-out leaderboard.

FIND A TRACKMAN VENUE NEAR YOU

**Unfortunately, the tournament is not available on driving range simulators at the moment but if you happen to have a Trackman simulator at home, you too can enter.

When does The Big Golf Race Winter Shoot-out start?

You’ll be able to tee off on the front 9 of course 1 (The Old Course, St Andrews) from Wednesday 1 January 2025. And then from 1 February 2025, the front 9 at Bethpage Black (this year’s Ryder Cup venue) and from 1 March the Evian course. Each round, open for a month at-a-time will have an individual winner and cumulative points towards an overall Order of Merit champion who will win an award-winning Motocaddy M5 GPS electric trolley and Dry-Series bag. The 8th hole on each course will signify 1 in 8 men who get prostate cancer and include a nearest the pin challenge to win a dozen Titleist ProV1s every month. You can play the front 9 of each course as many times as you like.

The tournament rules

• The Big Golf Race Winter Shoot-out will be played with manual handicaps. Golfers will be allowed to input their correct handicap before the start of the tournament. Winners of the prizes may be asked to provide their correct handicap before receiving the prize.
• Each round will have an automatic 2 putt and 8ft gimme range.
• Each green will be at eight on the stimp meter.
