Game on! Paddy Power pledges £180,000 bonus after stunning nine-darter at Ally Pally

Christian Kist landed the perfect leg in his first round match at the Paddy Power World Darts Championship, triggering a massive bonus donation to boost our TRANSFORM trial.

Paddy Power will hand out an enormous £180,000 bonus after a moment of magic from Christian Kist on Day Four at the World Darts Championship.

The Dutchman fired in the first nine-darter of the tournament in his Round 1 match against Madars Razma at Alexandra Palace, landing the perfect checkout to clinch the opening set.

And in a major boost for The BIGGER 180, that means Paddy Power will award a colossal six-figure bonus – including £60,000 to support our groundbreaking screening trial, TRANSFORM.

Kist, known as 'The Lipstick', and one lucky fan chosen at random from the Ally Pally crowd, also scooped a share of the prize pot - each landing a whopping £60,000.

Perfect checkout boosts The BIGGER 180 with massive bonus

Laura Kerby, Chief Executive of Prostate Cancer UK, said: “The Paddy Power World Darts Championship has been compelling viewing, and we were thrilled to see Christian Kist hit an incredible nine-dart finish.

“This perfect leg of darts means Christian has etched his name in the darting history books – but he’s also helped raise an incredible £180,000 to be split between himself, one lucky fan and Prostate Cancer UK, thanks to Paddy Power.

“With every 180 hit by players in the tournament, Prostate Cancer UK earns £1,000. And this wonderful windfall will go towards our groundbreaking screening trial, TRANSFORM. Led by world-leading experts, TRANSFORM will find the best way to screen men for the disease - so that one day all men will be invited for regular tests and more men will find it early enough to be cured.”

We’re targeting £1 million to support lifesaving research

With The BIGGER 180, Paddy Power are leading the charge to save men’s lives and pledging £1,000 for every 180 at this year’s championship.

The grand total has already exceeded £200,000, with the £60,000 nine-darter bonus now added to the pot.

With two more weeks of action still to come, we’re targeting more than £1 million to support our TRANSFORM trial. The trial will find the best way to screen for prostate cancer and pave the way to a national screening programme, which could save thousands of lives every year.

Laura Kerby added: “This iconic tournament has seen us make a huge difference to men affected by prostate cancer, one maximum at a time.

“We thank Paddy Power for their life-changing support and Christian for his incredible accuracy. And long may the iconic call of ‘one hundred and eighty’ from the Ally Pally stage continue!”
