Healthcare specialists GenesisCare today announced they will be the headline event sponsor of Jeff Stelling's Football March for Prostate Cancer UK.

On Sunday 17 September, Jeff will march 26 miles from Wembley Stadium to Adams Park, the home of Wycombe Wanderers, to honour the legacy of broadcasting legend and Wanderers fan, Bill Turnbull who passed away last August. He will be joined by more than 400 football fans, with a goal to raise £200,000.

Jeff, himself, was pleased to hear that GenesisCare are joining the team for this year's march.

“I’m delighted to hear their team will be joining me and nearly 400 others as we walk from Wembley Stadium to Wycombe in memory of the legendary Bill Turnbull," Jeff said.

“Since 2016 I’ve walked across the UK meeting so many people affected by prostate cancer.  I’ve heard heartbreaking stories and heartwarming ones too, but sadly this disease remains far too common. I’m still shocked prostate cancer affects one in eight men, that’s unacceptable.”

With 14 cancer treatment centres in the UK, GenesisCare are joining forces with us to improve understanding of the effectiveness and purpose of radiotherapy as a primary treatment option for prostate cancer. They will ensure men are equipped to make informed choices about their treatment and care options.

Jeff, who sported Prostate Cancer UK’s iconic ‘Man of Men’ badge on Soccer Saturday each and every week, before signing off for the final time on 28 May, has helped raise around £1.5 million and immeasurable awareness about the most common cancer in men.

And he will be joined on his 34th walking marathon by Laura Kerby CEO of Prostate Cancer UK, members of the GenesisCare team, and representatives from Bill Turnbull’s family and Wycombe Wanderers.

Our Chief Executive, Laura Kerby, a West Ham fan and keen walker herself, said: “We’re delighted GenesisCare will sponsor Jeff Stelling’s Football March and join us on our biggest ever day of walking. GenesisCare already play a key role in prostate cancer care. Teaming up with them will allow us to reach and support more men, and improve the lives of those affected by prostate cancer.

"We’ll be walking side by side with the GenesisCare team on September 17 and hope this is just the start of a long-term strategic partnership with them."

GenesisCare General Manager, Justin Hely, a Spurs fan, said: "As experts in cancer care we know first-hand how vital an early diagnosis and access to the most advanced cancer treatments is in delivering improved outcomes for men with prostate cancer.

"That’s why we’re working with Prostate Cancer UK and Jeff to encourage men to be proactive, be vigilant and take charge of their health today, for a healthier tomorrow."

Additional places on Jeff's Football March have been made available. Be quick if you’d like to join him.
