Our people

Find out more about our Chief Executive Owen Sharp and meet the men and women who make up the Prostate Cancer UK executive team.

Owen Sharp - Chief Executive

Owen Sharp

Owen Sharp joined Prostate Cancer UK as Chief Executive in 2011, leading the organisation with an ambitious and energetic new approach to tackling the disease.

In this time, Owen has overseen a bold new identity and the charity's first major mass-communications campaign; spearheaded a merger with Prostate Action, and taken the charity's partnership with Movember to new heights – investing in critical services and research programmes across the UK.

Under his watch, the charity has rapidly established a reputation for the bold and innovative. Recent coups such as partnerships with the Football League and Millwall FC have seen the charity break new ground in reaching the men who need to know about this disease on their own terms.

Sharp, who began his career as a rookie nurse in the tough training ground of Glasgow's emergency wards, has a strong commitment to improving men's health.

Before joining Prostate Cancer UK, Sharp worked in senior management in the NHS and as Deputy Chief Executive, including a stint as CEO, at Victim Support.

In his spare time, Owen is a committed follower of US sport and admits to a healthy obsession with his favourite baseball team, the Tampa Bay Rays.

Mark Bishop

Mark has been leading our Fundraising operation for close to five years and has helped grow our income from £7 million to £30 million a year. His ambition is to run a marathon for the Charity in under five hours - his best is currently 5 hours, 15 minutes and one second!

Prior to his current role, Mark worked in book publishing at HarperCollins, TV at Sky and co-founded two Internet start-ups. Mark is father to three children and is a keen Arsenal supporter.

Heather has held senior operational and strategic management roles in the NHS, most recently managing community health services in Lambeth and Southwark as part of Guys & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.  Prior to joining the NHS she worked as an economist and policy adviser in the civil service and has also run her own business.

Outside work Heather sings in a choir and enjoys many different types of music.  She is a keen gardener and alternately proud of and disappointed by her attempts to grow vegetables.

Dr Iain Frame - Director of Research

Iain Frame

Iain is the charity's first Director of Research, responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our ambitious new research strategy. He joins us from Diabetes UK where he held the post of Research Director for five years, during which time he took forward its funding of high quality, internationally acclaimed studies and almost doubled the organisation's research spend.

Previously Iain worked in research management at the Wellcome Trust and before that as a parasitologist and researcher exploring various aspects of molecular biology of a number of different parasites.

Iain is a keen baker and also enjoys making jams, chutney and other preserves. He also loves spending time walking his three dogs.

Vivienne was previously Deputy Director of Communications at the charity, during which time she played a key role in developing our bold new identity and first mass-communications campaign, 'The Sledgehammer Fund'. She will be building upon this success to grow our profile even further and sustain momentum and engagement around a movement for men.

Prior to this, Vivienne led an award-winning Media and PR Team at the charity, placing prostate cancer firmly on the agenda of key journalists.

Vivienne, a former reporter, joined us from Sue Ryder, where she was Head of PR.

Vivienne is an 'aspiring Jane Austen', and enjoys creative writing in her spare time, as well as visiting numerous exhibitions.
