A massive thank you to our Specialist Nurses

Today is International Nurses Day and we're celebrating our Specialist Nurses with messages of gratitude from across the nation.

The nation can’t show enough gratitude to health workers on the front line during this time; in our hospitals, clinics and care homes. Our supporters have been particularly grateful to our team of Specialist Nurses who provide information and emotional support on the phone and online to thousands of men and their families, during the Covid-19 crisis and all year round.

To celebrate International Nurses Day we asked you to share your gratitude for our nurses, and those across the UK that have helped you. We were overwhelmed with responses. We’ve passed hundreds of messages on to our nursing team. Here’s just a few that show how much their work is appreciated.

We just could not do without you amazing people  ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Ian

We are so grateful for Prostate Cancer UK’s Specialist Nurses. The news about my diagnosis came as a complete shock. Our minds went totally blank and we had so many questions about how this would impact us both. The nurses explained everything to us so clearly and provided true, honest and balanced information and were very easy to talk to. Vital funds are needed to help Prostate Cancer UK keep up this fantastic support system and continue helping men like me and their loved ones affected by this terrible disease. Gary

Thank you everyone for the live and support to all during such difficult and challenging times. Chris

Our Nurses say 'men, we are with you'.

Thank you for your support over the past three years. I felt that I needed to know my enemy and you were so helpful when I phoned - you knew I was scared. Although there’s work to be done, we seem to get better news on cancer treatment on an almost weekly basis. My results are good and I feel well and I’ve got involved with our local cancer treatment fund in Shrewsbury. So I’ve managed to get something rewarding out of this unpleasant disease. Enjoy Nurses Day and remember the thousands like me who owe so much to our medical teams. Alan

I needed some extra support to deal with my diagnosis, so I decided to call the Specialist Nurses at Prostate Cancer UK. I can only describe the them as ‘my angels’. After every appointment, I would call them and they were so helpful and reassuring, providing information on any concerns I had.

I would just like to say how much I appreciate everything that you do, especially at this terrible time. You are so caring & giving & ask nothing in return. I have had a prostate test myself (and thank God it came back clear), words cannot express my gratitude enough. So, I know it's not a lot but THANK YOU again from the bottom of my heart. 💙💙💙🌈🌈 Richie

Actress Jemma Redgrave was grateful for our nurses when her father was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

I have prostate cancer of which I take hormone implants. I don't need you now but I know that you will always be there if I do. Ben

My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer October 2017 and without the dedication, understanding and empathy shown by the nursing and medical staff in Belfast City Hospital and at Addenbrooks in Cambridge I really don't know how we would have coped. Staff were always just a phone call away and indeed still are! A massive thank you from my husband Eamon and myself. Keep up the good work. Eileen

Keith found a call to our Specialist Nurses reassuring after his diagnosis

Thanks 👍 I have just been diagnosed. Spoke to a nurse a couple of weeks ago, marvellous. Keep up the good work. Chris

You are so important in the process to help us accept the situation when we are diagnosed. Jeepee

Oh yes, the nurses sure helped me six years ago when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. All the nurses and staff in the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital were absolutely brilliant with my treatment and still are. To all the nurses and staff at the cancer centre I thank you💙💙  Roger
