Diagnosis and prognosis

This collection includes research we’re funding into new and improved methods of accurately diagnosing prostate cancer and monitoring its progression. This includes research into the discovery and testing of new markers to detect prostate cancer and predict its aggressiveness, as well as new ways to improve the effectiveness, accuracy and delivery of prostate biopsies; or potentially even remove the need for biopsies at all.

Genetic tests that can be performed on blood to allow the differentiation of aggressive from low activity prostate cancer and the identification of changes that cause resistance in patients receiving treatment

Funded research by Dr Gerhardt Attard of the Institute of Cancer Research into developing tests to identify genetic abnormalities in circulating material that will help distinguish between aggressive and non-aggressive cancers.
