Omaze
As a partner in the Million Pound House Draw, our campaign with Omaze raised more than £3 million towards our ground-breaking screening trial, TRANSFORM.
Making life-saving research a reality with the Million Pound House Draw
Omaze are a for-profit entertainment company with a social purpose. And through the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, they give people the chance to become a multi-millionaire while helping to raise funds and awareness for UK charities.
We were delighted to be chosen as Omaze's charity partner for the Surrey House Draw in 2024, raising an incredible £3.45 million in just six weeks.
This astonishing amount will have an impact on men's lives for generations to come - by helping us fund our world-leading research programme, TRANSFORM. This groundbreaking trial will compare several ways of diagnosing prostate cancer to find out which is the best. In doing so, it will pave the way to the UK's first ever screening programme for prostate cancer.
Thanks to the support of Omaze and the enormous profile of our campaign, we were also able to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of prostate cancer. Over six weeks we generated over 600 pieces of media coverage, helping us reach hundreds of thousands of people - with more than 270,000 men completing our 30-second online Risk Checker.
'A staggering sum to help us save many more lives'
“It’s truly remarkable that in just six weeks the Omaze Million Pound House Draw has raised this staggering sum for Prostate Cancer UK," said our Chief Executive, Laura Kerby. "It’s an extraordinary amount that will move us closer to a world where no man dies of prostate cancer.
“The funds will also enable us to deliver vital awareness activity, reaching those at greatest risk, and further deliver our expert support services - giving men the power to navigate prostate cancer.”
When you get that diagnosis and hear the c-word, it’s a shock. Luckily, we caught it early and there's a low risk of it spreading any further. I know my story could have been very different though. I've been incredibly passionate about supporting Prostate Cancer UK and Omaze in this campaign, as the funds raised will ultimately save men’s lives.
Our campaign was also backed by a number of our wonderful supporters, including actor and Prostate Cancer UK ambassador Colin McFarlane.
"As a Black man over 45, I’d always been aware of my increased risk of prostate cancer," said Colin. "But when you get that diagnosis and hear the c-word, it’s a shock. Luckily, we caught it early and there's a low risk of it spreading any further.
"I know my story could have been very different though. 12,000 men die of prostate cancer every year in the UK - that's 12,000 men for whom the disease wasn't caught early enough. I've been incredibly passionate about supporting Prostate Cancer UK and Omaze in this campaign, as the funds raised will ultimately save men’s lives."
