John Dickinson-Lilley – Interim Director of Communications
John (or JDL as he prefers to be called) is our Interim Director of Communications, heading up a creative and dynamic team of experts.
He leads our work to deliver our brand, communications and customer engagement strategies - work that influences and engages the public to understand prostate cancer as a cause, know who we are, feel connected to us and be inspired to act.
JDL’s worked in communications, marketing, PR, and public affairs, where he’s held senior communications and advisory roles over the past 20 years. He was the Director of Communications at the British Museum, Goldsmiths, University of London, and was Head of Communications & Marketing at CITB. He’s held political advisory roles across local authorities and in UK parliament, JDL’s served Director of Public Affairs for the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, and as the Head of Public Affairs at Sport England.
JDL has sat on a host of charity boards and is currently a Trustee of Stonewall. He’s been a global ambassador for Athlete Ally for nearly ten years, having retired in 2017/18 as a GB para-ski racer, securing a spot in the World Top Ten and winning the European Cup, Alpine Cup and both British titles. And he was recently made a Freeman of the City of London for his work in communications.
Alongside skiing, JDL’s a keen boater and tandem cyclist.
