Father's Day Thank You

This Father’s day was a particularly strange and poignant one. With the UK just starting to ease its way out of lockdown, many families were celebrating from a distance, so we recruited Bill Turnbull as well as many other celebrity ambassadors to help give our supporters lots of different ways to celebrate the men they love.

Without our usual March for Men events to bring people together, we did our best to fill the void, with a range of options to help you connect, celebrate and pay tribute to the men you love.

Dedication to Dad

Our Dedication to Dad wall on our website was created so individuals could leave messages in either celebration or tribute of loved ones affected by prostate cancer in time for Father’s Day. More than 200 people left tributes, celebrations and messages of love on our wall and helped  raise more than £2,304.00 in the process. Many of the dedications were also featured in prominent city centre locations across the country on screens across London, Glasgow and Liverpool, and our partner,  Quest TV, also shared many of the messages across their TV and digital channels in the lead up to Father’s Day weekend, helping even more people see the important roles men play in our everyday lives and all the wonderful things we miss when they’re lost too soon to prostate cancer.

Let's get Quizzical

On Wednesday 17th June, we held a very special edition of our Staying inn Quiz, expertly hosted by celebrity ambassador, Bill Turnbull.

More than 900 teams tuned in live to watch the fun, and at times very challenging, quiz, as we streamed across Facebook. Bill was joined by a number of celebrity ambassadors including Stephen Fry, Greg Wallace, Gemma Oaten and Jeff Stelling who each hosted video rounds on their own specialist subjects.

Bill kept the spirits high throughout the night, responding to the comments, queries and contests from supporters. Sharing updates from his own prostate cancer experience as well as life in lock-down, Bill ensured the quiz ran smoothly from start to finish.

Having set an ambitious £10,000 fundraising target, the night ended on an emotional high as supporter rallied together to reach the final figure, eventually settling on the impressive total of £10,935.

Missed all the action? You can still watch the quiz here.

Dad’s, dedications and rock 'n' roll

The week before Father’s Day we joined forces with the team from Planet Rock radio, to take over their Saturday and Sunday dedication shows, encouraging listeners to dedicate songs to their Dads. Throughout the week radio presenters shared live reads with stats and information about prostate cancer and our partnership, with more than a million listeners every week, this partnership has helped us raise much needed awareness among thousands of people across the country.

Father’s Day Cards

For the first time ever, we launched our very own Father’s Day cards and e-cards for our online shop. Three exclusive new designs were created to celebrate Dads everywhere with 100% of profits from every sale helping fund our life saving work. Dozens of supporters took advantage of these unique cards to send their special messages to their Dads over the Father’s Day weekend.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Father’s Day to celebrate their loved ones. By quizzing, shopping and sending messages you’ve helped us fund life saving research into better ways diagnose, treat and support those facing prostate cancer, and helped us ensure that even more men will get more Father’s Days in the future.
