Tumour Development

This category covers research into the underlying causes of prostate cancer, and into what is going wrong with genes, cells and molecules in the prostate when cancer starts to develop.

These projects are very basic science looking at tumour biology and performing knock-down, functional analysis and regulatory analysis of prostate tumour cells in the lab. There may be some cross-over as this work may also be considered as preventive: e.g. if the bacterial infection could be killed/prevented with antibiotics or a vaccine, could we prevent the tumour development as in HPV and cervical cancer? This would be similar to the Tumour Biology category in CSO coding.
