As a Men United Arms, you will be automatically be entered into our free draw each month to win prizes for your pub and your customers. Check your email each month to see if you’ve won.

Favourite local competition

Raise over £200 by 31 March 2018 to be entered into our competition for the title of Prostate Cancer UK’s favourite local. The award will be judged by industry experts from CAMRA, PubAid, the Morning Advertiser and celebrity judges. We ask pubs to go all out to demonstrate their impact on the community, their fundraising creativity and a commitment to raising awareness of prostate cancer.  The winning pub will receive:

  • A celebration event in your pub hosted by Bobby George
  • Free PR and social media support for your pub
  • A framed Men United Arms shirt to display in the bar.

The small print

Men United Arms – Terms and Conditions


  • The Campaign  

    1. The “Men United Arms” is Prostate Cancer UK’s pub fundraising and engagement campaign (the “Campaign”). The 2017/18 Campaign will run from 08 August 2017 to 31 March 2018.

    2. By registering and submitting the details of their pub, participants agree to the following for the duration of the campaign (until 31 March 2018):

    a. To raise money for, and donate that money to, Prostate Cancer UK; b. To raise awareness of prostate cancer;
    c. That Prostate Cancer UK will include the name and address of the pub on their website ( as a participating pub;
    d. To be sent an email once a month containing a link to access their free pub quiz; and
    e. To receive free entry into a monthly prize draw (see clause 20).

  • Competition  

    3. The campaign includes a competition that seeks to find Prostate Cancer UK’s favourite pubs of 2018 (the “Competition”). The Competition will run from 08 August 2017 until 31 March 2018 and includes 3 categories: Our Favourite Local, Our Favourite Landlord and Top Fundraising Pub. Additional categories may be added at Prostate Cancer UK’s sole discretion. Prostate Cancer UK will publish the details of any additional categories on its website.

    4. To qualify for entry to the Competition, participating entrants will be required to (a) donate a minimum of £200 to Prostate Cancer UK between 08 August 2017 and 31 March 2018 and (b) complete a short survey to explain why they should be named Prostate Cancer UK’s Favourite Local by 08 April 2018. Both the donation and the survey must be received by Prostate Cancer UK by 5pm on 08 April 2018. All entries received after this time will not be eligible for the Competition.

    5. Entries to the Competition can be made on and must be made before 31 March 2018.

    6. Prostate Cancer UK shall provide entrants with competition packs to assist with fundraising.

    7. All entrants must be resident in the UK and must be aged 18 or over. Any entrants or pubs located outside the UK will not be entered. Prostate Cancer UK reserves all rights to disqualify entrants whose conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the Competition.

  • Competition – Top Fundraising Pub  

    8. The Top Fundraising Pub Award will not be subject to the same process as for the Competition described in clauses 9 and 10 below. This will be awarded to the pub who donates the most money to Prostate Cancer UK between 08 August 2017 and 31 March 2018.

  • Competition – shortlisted pubs  

    9. Up to 4 pubs will be shortlisted in each category (excluding the Top Fundraising Pub) from participating entrants. From those pubs, the pubs with the 4 highest scores within each category (the “shortlisted pubs”) will be eligible to win the prize for their category. Shortlisting for all awards will be completed by Prostate Cancer UK staff. Participating organisations will be scored out of 5 against each of the following criteria:

    a. Creativity and innovation;
    b. Customer involvement;
    c. Commitment to raising money; and
    d. Contribution to raising awareness of prostate cancer in their local community.

    10. The shortlisted pubs for each category (excluding Top Fundraising Pub) will be determined in relation to the above criteria as follows:

    a. Our Favourite Local: this will be judged by the overall highest scores based on the aggregate of all criteria set out in clause 9 (namely criteria (a)-(d));
    b. Our Favourite Landlord: this will be judged on the overall highest scores based on the score received for criteria (a) of clause 9.

    11. The shortlisted pubs will each receive a prize of:

    a. An organic post on Prostate Cancer UK’s Twitter and Facebook accounts;
    b. A paid for Facebook post to the value of £30 geo targeted to our Facebook supporters in the geographic region the participating entrant is situated in; and
    c. A tailored press release about the short listed pub to their local media outlets.

  • Competition – overall winners  

    12. From the top pubs in each of the four categories (including Top Fundraising Pub), a winning participating entrant (the “overall winner”) will be selected in each category. Entrants may be asked to provide additional information as part of this process. These winners will receive the prizes as outlined in clause 15 (the “Prize”). Additional support may be provided to the overall winner in each category at Prostate Cancer UK’s discretion.

    13. The overall winner for each category will be selected from the shortlisted pubs by a Prostate Cancer UK appointed judging panel (the “Panel”) by 30 April 2018. Prostate Cancer UK will send the full names of the members of the Panel (including Prostate Cancer UK staff who score the entrants as per clause 9) to anyone who requests such by midnight on 30 April 2018 by means of an email to

    14. The Panel will score the surveys submitted by the shortlisted pubs. The Panel shall exercise its discretion in selecting the overall winners and its decision shall be final.

    15. In addition to the prizes for shortlisted pubs detailed in clause 11, the prize for the overall winner of each category will consist of:

    a. For Our Favourite Local:
    i. A paid for Facebook post to the value of £30 geo targeted to our Facebook supporters in the geographic region the overall winner is situated in,
    ii. A tailored press release about the winning pub to local and trade media,
    iii. A celebrity visit from Bobby George to their pub (subject to professional commitments; if unavailable an alternative celebrity will be found), and
    iv. A framed personalised shirt provided by Prostate Cancer UK.

    b. For Our Favourite Landlord:
    i. A paid for Facebook post to the value of £30 geo targeted to our Facebook supporters in the geographic region the overall winner is situated in,
    ii. A tailored press release about the winning pub to local and trade media, and
    iii. A personalised plaque.

    16. The prize for the Top Fundraiser will consist of:

    a. A paid for Facebook post to the value of £30 geo targeted to our Facebook supporters in the geographic region the overall winner is situated in,
    b. A tailored press release about the winning pub to local and trade media,
    c. A personalised plaque, and
    d. Two tickets with hospitality to the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium.

    17. The prizes are non-transferable and no cash alternative will be given. If any overall winner is unable to claim the prizes or cannot be contacted by Prostate Cancer UK within 21 days, the Panel shall be entitled to select another winner from the shortlisted pubs in that category.

    18. The overall winners will be notified within 21 days from the date of the announcement of the shortlisted pubs (15 April 2017).

    19. The shortlisted pubs and overall winners shall be notified by phone and then this will be confirmed in writing. Details of the successful entrants may be obtained upon written request from Prostate Cancer UK.

  • Prize draw 1 – all entrants  

    20. In addition to the Competition, all participating entrants (regardless of whether they have donated the minimum £200 required for the Competition, as set out in clause 4) will be entered into a monthly prize draw for the duration of the Competition from the date of receipt of their application under clause 4. To be entered into a draw in a given month, their application must be received before the 20th day of that month. Applications received after this date may not be entered into the draw until the following month. Prostate Cancer UK will notify the winner of the draw by email by the last working day of each month. The winner of each month’s draw and details of their prize will be displayed on the Prostate Cancer UK website ( Prostate Cancer UK will award one prize each month with an estimated value of roughly £50-£80. The nature of these prizes will include vouchers, tickets and merchandise.

  • Prize draw 2 – top donors  

    21. Any participating entrant who donates a total of £1,000 or over between 08 August 2017 and 31 March 2018 will be eligible for entry to a single prize draw to win 2 hospitality tickets for a Wembley Playoff final on one of 27/28 May 2018. The winner will be notified by email on or before 30 April 2018 and the details will also be published on the Prostate Cancer UK website.

  • Publicity  

    22. All entrants, including the shortlisted pubs and the overall winner, agree to participate in all associated publicity/media campaigns as may be reasonably requested by Prostate Cancer UK. Publicity/Media campaigns could include posts published on social media, a film interview, press release(s) and a photo call when the winners are announced in April 2018.

  • Data privacy  

    23. Personal data supplied during the course of the Competition will not be shared with third parties except for the purposes of the Competition. Prostate Cancer UK may use entrants’ personal data to keep them updated about Prostate Cancer UK and other campaigns by Prostate Cancer UK that may be of interest to them. By the act of entering this competition the entrants consent to their personal data being used in this way. Entrants may require Prostate Cancer UK not to cease using their data in this way at any time by emailing Prostate Cancer UK will not transfer entrants’ personal data outside of the EEA. Prostate Cancer UK’s privacy statement sets out how Prostate Cancer UK uses data and entrants’ rights in relation to that data and is available here.

  • General  

    24. Prostate Cancer UK reserves the right to amend or alter these terms and conditions from time to time.

    25. Members of staff at Prostate Cancer UK and their families are not permitted to take part in the prize draw but are permitted to hold a Men United Arms event in a pub.

    26. The Men United Arms and “Become Prostate Cancer UK’s favourite local” event is the intellectual property of Prostate Cancer UK.

    27. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes.

    28. To the extent permitted by law, Prostate Cancer UK, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate any entrants or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of participating in the Competition except where it is caused by the negligence of Prostate Cancer UK, its agents or distributors or that of their employees.

    29. Prostate Cancer UK will not accept responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.

    30. By entering this Competition, entrants are deemed to have read, accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions.
