A charitable foundation set up just a year ago by a leading steel manufacturer has already raised a five-figure sum for us, thanks to the fundraising heroics of the company's workforce.
The charitable foundation of a major UK steel manufacturer is celebrating raising over £55k for numerous small and national charities – including Prostate Cancer UK – just a year after it was set up.
The Severfield Foundation nominated us as their major charity partner for 2016-17 and thanks to the amazing efforts of the parent company's staff, we received a cheque last week for a whopping 25k. The giant donation came on top of a number of other direct fundraising activities – from running events to sponsored walks – which raised a further £7,748.
"After only one year, we were delighted that The Severfield Foundation has raised such an incredible amount in such a short time," said Foundation Trustee and Severfield Legal Director Mark Sanderson.
"It's testament to the hard work, commitment and generosity of our employees who are at the forefront of our fundraising activities, contributing to and taking part in events throughout the year."
Our director of fundraising, James Beeby, was equally full of praise, saying: "A huge thank you to all the staff at Severfield for their valuable support over the last 12 months and for raising an incredible £32,748 to help stop prostate cancer being a killer
"The employees have had a vital impact on increasing awareness of the disease, both amongst the public but also with their staff too. It is thanks to the dedicated support and funds from Severfield that we have been able to push forward with our goal to tame prostate cancer in 10 years.”
