Nick Butter aims to run a marathon in every country in the world, in a record-breaking 18-month challenge to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. He tells us his inspiration for doing it and how you can get involved.
Ultra-marathon runner Nick Butter is aiming to go further than any man has gone before, running a marathon in every country in the world – that's 196 in total.
The 28-year-old endurance athlete wants to use the epic, 550-day challenge over 5,000+ miles to raise £250,000 for Prostate Cancer UK after meeting Kevin Webber – a husband and father of three who has been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer.
“Kevin is the man behind the mission,” says Nick. “We met during the Marathon des Sables – also known as the toughest footrace on earth – and when he told me he had been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer, I knew I wanted to do something.
“He is a remarkable man with endless positivity, so this trip is for him and to hopefully stop future generations dying from prostate cancer.”
Nick’s starts his challenge on January 2018. You can donate to him, sponsor a marathon or even join him along the way – find out more at his website.
