An amazing 246 Deloitte staff will be taking part in four challenges across four continents to raise £1 million for Prostate Cancer UK, Alzheimer’s Society and Mind.
Deloitte’s Charity Challenge 2015 starts next week and will see 246 Deloitte staff, including 24 partners, undertake four challenges across four continents in an effort to raise £1 million for Prostate Cancer UK, Alzheimer’s Society and Mind. The challenges include summiting Kilimanjaro, completing a tri-x in Borneo, climbing Mulhacen in mainland Spain and scaling one of the world’s most active volcanoes, Cotopaxi in Ecuador.
On 17 June, the first set of participants will leave for the Borneo Tri-X, a gruelling five-day challenge that includes trekking through both the Kiulu Valley and Gaya Island, cycling for nearly 50km through the Kinabalu jungle and white water rafting in the Padas River.
Claire Burton, head of corporate responsibility at Deloitte, said: “In 2013, we pledged to raise £2 million in three years. The Charity Challenge will be Deloitte’s largest and most exciting fundraising event to date and will add to the £1.5 million we have already raised.
“However, traditional fundraising is only one of the ways in which we aim to support our charity partners. We have also supported the charities through volunteering or pro-bono work in areas such as analytics, finance and project management.”
Deloitte has already raised nearly £500,000 towards its £1 million target through a series of fundraising events, including the ‘Deloitte Dances’ competition, which raised nearly £25,000 in total.
