Waddle gets kitted up for Men United in charity battle against Hallam FC XI

Legends of football are set to take part in a charity football match to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK on Sunday 4 October.

Ex-England international Chris Waddle brings together a team of former international and Premier League stars, including ex-Sheffield Wednesday heroes John Sheridan and David Hirst, to play for Men United.

The Men United squad, featuring football legends, will take on a Hallam FC XI team to raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK.

“We were recommended Prostate Cancer UK by John Hemmingham who plays in the England and Sheffield Wednesday band,” said Waddle, who is playing his part in a third annual charity contest and whose team will be wearing a special Men United kit.

“We’ve seen the campaigns with the man of men badges and I think everybody’s aware of prostate cancer now. I would have thought everybody knows somebody who’s had prostate cancer or had tests for it. It will be great to play our part to help to fight the cause and hopefully this will go towards saving people’s lives.”

Waddle, who has played for Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield Wednesday, believes it’s a great opportunity to bring the family and enjoy a match with some old faces at the Oldest Football Ground in the World.

“It’s a bit of history, so for people who’ve not been to Hallam, it’s a chance to bring your kids along and say, ‘This is the oldest football ground in the world.’

Because I think everybody in the world would love to have the oldest football ground in the world.
