TeamPB - the joint team of The Prostate Cancer Charity and
Breast Cancer Care chosen as Virgin London Marathon's charity
partner 2012- has smashed its £1 million fundraising target, thanks
to their 800-strong team of runners.
More than £1million was raised by 830 participants, who ran the
iconic race in April for TeamPB, the first joint official charity
of the race, to support the 750,000 people living with prostate and
breast cancer in the UK.
The sponsorship money will be used to fund a range of services
and projects to support people living with and affected by these
diseases.
Breast Cancer Care's Chief Executive, Samia al Qadhi, said: "It
is no mean feat completing a marathon, but speaking to some of our
TeamPB runners and hearing how cancer has touched their lives in
the post-event reception, I was touched by their commitment to
support what The Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care is
trying to achieve."
Owen Sharp, Chief Executive of The Prostate Cancer Charity,
added: "Thanks to the support of all our TeamPB runners we have
exceeded our fundraising target. These vitals funds will be
ploughed back into the work of both charities to ensure we can
support people who are and will be affected by the most common
cancers in men and women in theUK. Both charities have seen huge
value in the TeamPB partnership, which is why we want to continue
working together on a number of legacy events and programmes."
The TeamPB partnership was backed by celebrities including
actress, Amanda Mealing, Neil Fox and actor Damian Lewis
