Professor Paul Forster is stepping down
as Chair of Prostate Cancer UK after seven years. During his time
the Charity has more than quadrupled its income, in part through
its status as the UK partner of the Movember Foundation. Last year
the Charity went through a successful merger with Prostate Action
and today it is the UK's leading men's health charity. The new
Chair will therefore play a critical role in continuing an
ambitious growth strategy. We must ensure the issue of prostate
cancer is properly recognised and resourced to match the
expectation that prostate cancer will be the most common cancer in
the UK within the next twenty years.
The start date for the role is negotiable but
the Chair will need to be in place by December 2013 at the latest.
The oversight of the recruitment process will be undertaken by a
subgroup of the Board led by the Vice-Chair, Ray Kelly. The final
appointment will be ratified by the full Board.
Prostate Cancer UK has retained the services of
Perrett Laver to help identify the widest possible field of
qualified candidates and assist in the assessment of candidates
against the requirements for the role. An executive search exercise
is being undertaken alongside the public
advertisement of the post.
To apply for this role, please upload a
comprehensive CV and supporting statement at www.perrettlaver.com quoting reference
1248. The deadline for applications is noon on Tuesday 2 April
2013.
Longlisted candidates will be invited for
interview with Perrett Laver in April and following these
interviews a shortlist will be agreed. Shortlisted candidates will
then be invited to make informal visits to Prostate Cancer UK and
formal panel interviews for the position will take place in
May/June. You can find more
details here.
