Prostate Cancer UK (formerly known as The
Prostate Cancer Charity) has unveiled details of the entertainment
and activities on offer' at its new cycling event being held next
Sunday (8th July) in Exmouth.
Taking its name from the Jurassic coastline
it embraces, The Wiggle Jurassic Classic will see 850 plus cyclists
pass through some of Devon's most picturesque coastline when it
comes to the county on 8th July.
On the day, cyclists and their supporters
will not only be rewarded by the stunning views but also the
selection of activities and refreshments available. From bike
displays, bouncy castles and climbing walls to live music from
local musicians and sports massage therapy, it is set to provide
entertainment for all.
Not only that but participants, friends and
families can peruse the Wiggle onsite store and watch the Devon
County Council Road Show whilst enjoying a variety of hot and cold
food, or a drink at Exmouth Rugby club bar. People can register for
the cycle ride this weekend in the registration tent at the club,
with registrations between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday 7th and from 6am
on Sunday 8th July.
Andy Sallnow, Sporting Events Manager at
Prostate Cancer UK, said: "This is the first time we have staged
our own cycling event in Devon and we are hoping that as many
people as possible will join us on the day to take on this exciting
challenge and enjoy the entertainment we have planned.
"With over 40,000 men diagnosed with
prostate cancer each year in the UK and one man dying every hour,
it is our aim to help more men survive and enjoy a better quality
of life. This event is set to raise vital funds which will help us
provide dedicated support and information to men and their families
affected by prostate cancer and will help us fund research to help
fight the disease."
Smooth Radio DJ and keen cyclist Mark
Goodier is encouraging people to take to two wheels. He said: 'I
love Prostate Cancer UK bike rides, they are always fantastic and I
am gutted to be missing this one as it's such a spectacular course.
I lost my father-in-law to prostate cancer, so I know only too well
how important these cycling events are, as they draw attention to
and raise funds for a very important cause.'

Both routes cost £28 to take part in (and to register on the day
£30), with the 100mile route starting from 7am and 100km from
8am.
