LAD Prostate bare all in 2012 calendar in aid of The Prostate Cancer Charity

LAD Prostate, a Bristol-based fundraising group set up by four friends in Kingswood, has produced its 2012 annual calendar to raise funds for The Prostate Cancer Charity. The theme is 'At the Movies' with the team carefully selecting local venues to re-enact famed scenes from well-known films including; Ghost, Avatar and The Matrix.

Earlier this year LAD Prostate were given permission to pose on the Bristol Hippodrome's stage to boost the calendar's theatrical theme and create a sense of being at an Oscars-style awards ceremony. Subsequently, the very amusing and revealing shots are being used for the front and back covers of the calendar.

Russell Lee, LAD Prostate Fundraising Organiser, said: "Our 2012 calendar is made up of twelve scenes from famous films and we had immense fun creating them. We hope people can have as much enjoyment pinning it up and using throughout the year as we did making it.

"With prostate cancer being the most common cancer in men we were determined to make a positive difference and help support a charity that is working so hard to reduce the effects this illness is having on men. We hope everyone enjoys our calendar and has a prosperous New Year."

Since 2005, LAD Prostate has fundraised through selling themed calendars and organising quiz nights and live music events. In February 2011, Russell hitchhiked to Glasgow from Bristol accompanied by his friend. Between them they raised £500. To date, the group has raised £15,000 and hopes to boost this to £30,000 by selling 2012 'At the Movies' calendars.

LAD was formed in 2005 by Chris Johnson along with his friends Russell Lee, Shaun Hunt and Danny Slade. They were inspired to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity after being shocked by the staggering facts surrounding this type of cancer.

Mark Bishop, Director of Fundraising, said: "LAD Prostate yet again has gone to great efforts in putting their annual calendar together and has captured the movie scene theme brilliantly. Every year 37,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and with one man dying every hour from the disease we are truly grateful for the team's continued support of The Prostate Cancer Charity, and we hope that their calendar will be adorning homes across the region."
