Symptoms vary from man to man. Common symptoms include:
- Discomfort, pain or aching in your testicles, your back
passage, the area between your testicles and back passage
(perineum), the tip of your penis, the lower part of your stomach
area (lower abdomen), or your back
- Needing to pass urine frequently or urgently
- Pain or stinging when passing urine
- Feeling as if you are sitting on a golf ball
- No desire for sex (lack of libido)
- In severe cases, prostatitis can cause fever and sweating
The different types of prostatitis can also have the following
symptoms:
Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS)
- Pain when you ejaculate
- difficulty getting an erection
If you have had symptoms formorethan three of
the lastsix months, youmay bediagnosed with CPPS.
Acute bacterial prostatitis
- Fever, a hightemperature (above 38°c), sweating, chills
- Pain in your muscles orjoints
- A sudden and painful inability to pass urine.
Symptoms usually develop very quickly.
Chronic bacterial prostatitis
- Pain when you ejaculate
- Problems in the past with urinary tract infections or
inflammation of the urethra (urethritis).
The most common symptoms are similar to the symptoms of acute
bacterial prostatitis but are usually less severe and they may come
and go.
