Collecting cheques

"I’ve found that one small act from a volunteer really does make a huge difference"

"Over the last 4 years I have performed various roles for Prostate Cancer UK, including One-to-one support, talking to the media, delivering awareness talks to groups and campaigning at Westminster.

I’ve found that one small act from a volunteer really does make a huge difference.  For example, I was thanked for attending when I collected a cheque one day. I replied “it’s me that should be thanking you and your team for making such an effort to raise the money”. I discovered they had done fundraising for other charities but no one had attended when invited, so it really does make such a difference when it’s collected by someone with firsthand experience of prostate cancer, who can also represent the charity locally.

I have been proud to represent the charity, and it’s so good to feel that you are also helping and supporting others."
