When people, businesses or clubs get together for Men United, we like to send a volunteer along to accept their cheque. It’s a small act, but a hugely appreciated one. Jean Herd has first-hand experience of the difference it makes.

Jean’s experience

"I’ve found that one small act from a volunteer really does make a huge difference. For example, I was thanked for attending when I collected a cheque one day. I replied, “it’s me that should be thanking you and your team for making such an effort to raise the money”. I discovered they had done fundraising for other charities but no one had attended when invited, so it really does make such a difference when it’s collected by someone with first-hand experience of prostate cancer, who can also represent the charity locally.

I have been proud to represent Prostate Cancer UK, and it’s so good to feel that you are also helping and supporting others."
