Here are the tips we gave those joining Jeff on the march before they set off:
With the event fast approaching, here are some last minute tips courtesy of our event delivery partner Adventure Cafe:
Although it's rather late to consider training at this stage - there is still plenty you can do to ensure you have the very best chance of completing (and enjoying) your walk.
DON'T GET INJURED - despite the fact that you love playing football, going to judo, smashing your mate at squash, and dry slope skiing, we recommend that now is a good time to give it a rest prior to your big day. We see a suprising number of injuries in the final few days before challenges start!
DON'T DO ANYTHING TOO PHYSICAL IN THE LAST FEW DAYS - save your energy
DO HYDRATE - and avoid alcohol - not too much coffee on event morning!
DO EAT WELL - with carbs and plenty of fresh fruit and veg.
PACK THE COMPEDE (blister plasters) - and don't be scared to use it if you feel a 'hotspot'
DO GET PLENTY OF SLEEP - lets get to the start line in the best shape we can possibly manage - each of these 10 days is going to be fantastic
MAKE SURE YOUR CLOTHING FITS WELL - and doesn't rub! (likewise your rucsac)
DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING DRAMATIC AT THE LAST MINUTE - clothing etc.
BE PREPARED THE DAY BEFORE - make sure you have everything ready to go!
MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW TO GET TO THE START - and you know how long to get there in good time for registration. Make sure you have our event day details as sent out in the final joining instructions (see below).
MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW YOU'RE GETTING HOME - at the end of the walk you will be approximately 26 miles from where you began - not an interstellar distance - but nice to know someone is coming to get you - of that there is a convenient train back to the start!

What time does each walk start?
Please arrive at the main reception of the relevant ground from 7am for registration and a walker's breakfast.
The walk leaves the ground at 8am sharp. We won't be able to delay a start for anyone arriving late.
If you are joining the walk at a mid-way point, please check our timings and maps page for details. Please be sure to arrive at the ground well ahead of Jeff's arrival, and report to main reception.

How should I train, what should I wear?

What's the best footwear for each day?
Ensure you are comfortable with your footwear - and that it is aligned with our suggestions listed below:
Day 1: Road (boots, walking shoes)
Day 2: Mixed road and off road (boots, walking shoes)
Day 3: Mixed road and off road (boots, walking shoes)
Day 4: Mostly road, the PM is some off road ( walking shoes, trainers)
Day 5 AM: Majority canal tow path (boots, walking shoes)
Day 5 PM: Canal paths (boots, walking shoes)
Day 6: Mainly road, small section through park paths (walking shoes, trainers)
Day 7: Mixed road and odd road (boots, walking shoes)
Day 8: Majority canal path (walking shoes, trainers)
Day 9: Mixed road and off road (boots, walking shoes)
Day 10: AM Thames path, PM road (walking shoes, trainers)
Please note that you must check the weather forecast. If your route is cross country and it has been raining, you must
have footwear with a good tread that will provide grip in muddy conditions.
Can I park my car at the departure ground?
Parking will be available at each of the early morning start points (i.e. at the 8am starts).
Parking will be free and at the club ground in each case, with the exception of York City (Day 2) where you would need to park in the nearby 24-hour car park, where a daily fee may be payable.
What do I do if I'm running late in the morning?
The walk will start at the specified times each day - it cannot be delayed for any late arrivals.
Please be sure to reach the ground in plenty of time, for breakfast and registration (which opens at 7am each morning).
In the worst case scenario, if you run particularly late, you could attempt to join the walk after it has started, but at your own risk.

Ideas for fundraising
Once you've registered to walk with Jeff, you can set up your Just Giving page.
To do so, go to Jeff's campaign page and click on the orange "fundraise for campaign" button.
Every time someone donates to your page it gets added both to your own total and Jeff's overall tally too.

How do I pay in money that I've collected "offline"?
When your fundraising is done and dusted, there are a number of ways you can send us your money. Please do not send cash in the post.
Please make any cheques payable to ‘Prostate Cancer UK’ and send to Prostate Cancer UK, Fourth floor, The Counting House, 53 Tooley Street, London, SE1 2QN. Please include any sponsorship forms you have to ensure we can claim gift aid back, and remember that cheques expire after six months. We’d love to know more about your fundraising, so it would be great if you included a note telling us about it.
Paying-in slip and bank transfers
If you’d like to visit a bank or make a bank transfer, get in touch with us on 0800 082 1616 or email email@example.com so we can send you a paying-in slip and bank details.
To pay in your money over the counter visit your nearest branch of NatWest Bank.

We have posters available for each day, and "empty belly" posters for you to fill in your own details.
