Heather Barnes conquered the 3 peaks last year:
"In October 2011 my Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer at
the age of 63. The news came as a huge shock to us all.
He was put in contact with Prostate Cancer UK via one of his
friends who volunteers for the organisation, and found the support
pack provided to him extremely helpful in guiding him through the
various treatment options. He remarked at the time how much money
he thought it must have cost to put all that information together,
and what a great resource it was. That's when I decided to try and
do my part to raise money for the charity that had helped my Dad
during such a difficult time.
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest
mountains of Scotland, England and Wales (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike
and Snowdon) in a 24-hour period. What made this particular
challenge so rewarding was sharing the experience with a team of
friends, and of course the massive sense of achievement when
we finally completed the challenge!"
