The City Ground to Other Grounds - Part 1 (54 miles) to London Road - Rowan Staszkiewicz runs to Forest away games for Prostate Cancer UK
Meet Rowan Staszkiewicz, 27 - Forest
fan, computer game player, hot chocolate lover, and serial road
runner raises money for Prostate Cancer UK by running to Forest
away games.
Part 1 - The City Ground to London Road (59
miles in the end!) was completed on Saturday 6th October.
The Nottingham Evening Post featured Rowan
too.
Part 2 - The City Ground to the King Power
stadium, Leicester (26 miles cycling on Friday 9th with the NFFC
back room staff, then 26 miles running on Saturday 10th before the
game)
Although I'm hardly new to running, having run countless half
marathons and a full marathon, this is a completely different ball
game!!
How did this idea come about?
As "we only had 10 men, we only had 10 men…" rang out during
last week's feisty East Midlands derby, I remembered the Derby fans
who flew a plane over the City Ground with a banner showing they'd
beaten us with 10 men last season.
Yes, an illustration of fierce local rivalry but I also thought,
an expensive venture - the cost of which could have been put to
better use.
This thought inspired me to raise money that could be put to
better use, for charity.
Through glorious city suburbs and across B-roads throughout the
autumn and winter this season, I will be running to Forest away
matches.
By the time you read this I hope to be in the Forest end at
London Road with sore feet and a hot chocolate having left the City
Ground on Thursday.
Raising money
Each run will be linked by a Football League stadium so I'm
raising money for The Football League's Official Charity Partner,
Prostate Cancer UK.
Prostate cancer kills one man every hour, and affects 1 in 9
men. Find out about how Prostate Cancer UK fights to help more men
survive - prostatecanceruk.org/football
Having recently lost my grandmother to Alzheimers, I am also
raising money for Alzheimers UK too.
