Abstract

This webinar will explore radiotherapy treatments for prostate cancer, and explore the side-effects of these treatments and how they can be reduced.

Biography

Philip has recently been appointed the review lead radiographer at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London with a special interest in prostate cancer. His previous role was the advanced practice urology radiographer in radiotherapy at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital, London. He qualified with a BSc in radiotherapy in 1999 at the Christie Hospital in Manchester and has worked in departments around the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Philip spent 8 years as a clinical team member before moving into his specialist urology role. He now works alongside the clinicians in uro-oncology and reviews and supports patients who are having radiotherapy for a urological cancer before and during treatment and into survivorship. He has completed masters level modules in radiotherapy on-treatment review and prostate cancer and is a non-medical prescriber. As a part of advancing practice he is able to insert gold seed markers into the prostate prior to radiotherapy. He has a special interest in improving radiotherapy techniques to reduce toxicity for men having radiotherapy to the prostate.
