Today, for one day only, the Isle of Man will become the Isle of Men to honour the many men affected by prostate cancer. The historic name change comes as thousands gear up to hold a friendly game of poker tonight to help raise funds and awareness to beat the disease.
South Douglas MHK David Cretney, known as the ‘Minister for Fun’, said: “We are very happy to support PokerStars and Prostate Cancer UK with this campaign. The people of the Isle of Man are excited to be involved and this is demonstrated with our human Prostate Cancer UK logo! The Isle of Men will come alive with the sound of poker chips on September 25 and hopefully more lives will be saved because of that.”
Prostate Cancer UK has launched Lads Night In with support from Isle of Man-based gaming site PokerStars. The event is part of its ongoing Men United campaign to raise awareness and funds by reaching men on their own turf.
